Why Publistic
Your knowledge, your name, your share.
Free to publish
Writing, submitting and publishing cost nothing. Your author account is free and includes access to your own articles.
You stay the author
You grant Publistic a non-exclusive licence, so the same work can also appear in journals, repositories, on your institution's website or in your teaching.
A share of the revenue
20% of the net revenue from every paid subscription, counted at the Standard price, goes into a pool for the authors, shared out by what each paying subscriber actually reads.
Transparent by design
Every article shows your name, your role and your disclosed conflicts of interest, and when you last updated or confirmed it.
Readers who follow you
Readers can follow you and see your new articles. Your account shows how your articles are used and what they have earned.
How it works
From first draft to published article.
Three steps, all in the browser. There is nothing to install.
Step 1
Create your author account
Register with your name, title, specialty and institution. Author accounts are for people writing in their professional, freelance or scientific capacity.
Step 2
Write or import
Write in the editor or import an existing document. A whole textbook can come in at once, with its chapters as collections. Then add references, figures and an audio version.
Step 3
Submit and get read
Submit the article for publication under your name. Subscribers read it in full, you see how it is used, and every qualifying read counts towards your share of the pool.
The editor
Built for medical writing.
Everything a specialist article needs, in one place.
References by DOI or PMID
Look sources up by DOI or PubMed ID, import your library from BibTeX or CSL JSON, and cite as you write.
Figures, charts and flowcharts
Build charts from your own data, draw flowcharts, set equations and caption your images.
AI where it helps
Have titles and summaries suggested and cover images or diagrams generated. AI output is labelled, and you check it before it is published.
Audio versions you approve
Generate a narrated version with a synthetic voice, never a copy of yours. Once you approve it, readers hear it marked as reviewed by you.
Versions and languages
Every change is saved as a version you can compare and restore. Publish the same article in German and English.
Projects with co-authors
Bring a textbook or a series together as a project. As its editor you set each person's share; every author receives at least 5% of what their own articles earn.
Remuneration
Paid for being read.
The author pool
20% of the net revenue from every paid subscription, counted at the Standard monthly price, goes into the pool. Premium surcharges and credit sales do not.
Shared by reader
Each subscriber's share of the pool goes only to the articles that subscriber read that month, in proportion to their reads.
What counts as a read
A paying reader who stays in your article for a minimum time, or listens to its audio version. One per person, article and day. AI answers and summaries do not count.
Statements and payouts
A statement every month by the 15th, and a payout by bank transfer every quarter once your balance reaches €10. Publistic pays the artists' social security contribution on top.
The build-up phase
Earnings are credited from the first paying subscription and paid out once Publistic has taken €100,000 in net revenue. Nothing credited until then lapses.
Your responsibility
The professional standard stays with you.
Publistic provides the platform and does not check articles for professional accuracy before publication. These are the rules every author agrees to.
Current and sourced
Your article reflects the current state of knowledge, backs statements with sources and states the level of evidence where it matters. Every six months we remind you to update or confirm it.
Patients protected
Use patient material only with valid consent or fully anonymised, and give no treatment advice for individual patients. Case examples are welcome when labelled as such.
Open about interests
Disclose payments, consultancies, shareholdings and sponsorship on a standard form, and say where AI helped you write. No product advertising.
Read the author termsFrequently asked questions
Before you publish.
Who can publish on Publistic?
Anyone writing in their professional, freelance or scientific capacity, for example physicians, nursing staff, diagnostics and laboratory professionals, researchers and teachers. Author accounts are not available to consumers.
Does publishing cost anything?
No. The author account is free and includes access to your own articles. Reading the rest of the library requires a subscription.
What does the AI cost?
AI generation is paid for with Publistic Credits. Your author account starts with a one-time credit balance, and you can buy more in the same packages offered to readers. Writing and publishing never need credits.
Who owns what I publish?
You remain the author. For each article you release, you grant Publistic a non-exclusive licence to publish it on the platform, prepare it technically and use it for functions such as search, summaries and audio versions. You may publish it elsewhere too; if it appeared on Publistic first, we ask you to say so.
Can I publish work that has already appeared elsewhere?
Yes, if you hold the rights. When you import it, you state its rights status: your own work, rights reverted to you, republication allowed by your publishing agreement, or an open licence. We may ask for proof.
Will my articles be used to train AI?
Publistic may use them to improve the AI functions it operates or controls, where this is legally permissible and technically necessary. They are not used to train third-party foundation models without your separate, express consent.
How much will I earn?
That depends on how much paying subscribers read you, and Publistic does not promise a particular number of reads or amount. During the beta, readers use Publistic free of charge until 31 December 2026, so earnings until then are expected to be low or nil.
When will I receive my first payout?
Earnings are credited from the first paying subscription and paid out once Publistic has reached €100,000 in cumulative net revenue since launch. Your account shows progress towards that threshold. After that, payouts are quarterly from a balance of €10.
Can I take Publistic Credits instead of money?
Yes, once payouts have started, even below €10. Earnings are converted at the regular price per credit. Converted credits do not expire and pay for image generation, and for the reader functions if you also subscribe.
How are taxes handled?
We settle by credit note and show VAT if you are liable for it; tell us if you use the small business exemption. You pay your own income tax. Publistic pays the artists' social security contribution without deducting it from your earnings.
Can I write with co-authors?
Yes. Create a project, invite co-authors and research assistants, and set each participant's share of the project's earnings. Every author and co-author receives at least 5% of what their own contributions earn, and the system enforces it.
What happens to summaries and audio versions of my article?
They are generated automatically, marked as such and linked to your article. You can listen to an audio version and approve it; it is then shown as approved by you and replaces the automatic ones. You can switch off summaries and audio for any article.
Can I take an article down?
Yes, at any time, and we do it within 30 days. If the article has been cited, a notice stays at its address so the citation remains traceable. Earnings for earlier reads remain yours.
What happens if I leave?
Either side can end the contract with three months' notice. Your published articles stay in the library unless you unpublish them, and you keep receiving your share for them.
